I work in one of the airline company, AA, as GSE Manager. In March 2008 there was a dispute between two of the shareholders that stopped the operational activities and caused uncertainty in employees' future.
I had the courage to ask for my salary and the compensation money as a result of this. With almost 3000 employees in the company, I was entrusted to be the Vice Labor Union Head, which was established in April 2008. In pursuing our right, I often got pressures from the shareholders and some of the workers who doubted my action.
One Saturday in April 2008 (I don't remember the exact date), I was forced to apologize to the owner's family, because according to them I said or did something, which had offended their feelings. I was confused, because it was never my intention to hurt anyone. I just wanted to ask for our unpaid salaries and the future of our jobs in the company. I couldn't sleep that night and thinking of going to the owner's home in Muara Karang the next day, made me nervous.
About 2 o'clock in the morning, I dared myself to call Pastor Handoyo for some advice. I told him everything what really happened. He (Pastor Handoyo) asked me to see him after Sunday First Morning Service. I agreed to him and went to church at 6 o'clock in the morning. Normally, our family (I, my wife and our two children) goes to Sunday Third Service. But that day, I went to church alone and I told my wife the reason why.
After the Service, I went to see Pastor Handoyo who had been waiting and prayed for me. He (Pastor Handoyo) asked me to go ahead; go to the owner's house and not be afraid because God would be with me and take care the rest, so I would not get into trouble. Pastor Handoyo asked me not to give in.
Suddenly, I felt the strength that gave me confidence to go the owner's house right away. When I arrived, God had His mercy on me already! The owner welcomed me with a warm smile and offered me lunch, which I politely declined because I ate in the church canteen before coming there.
Then the owner started to talk and give some advice. I tried to explain that I never meant to harm anyone and that I just wanted to claim my unpaid salary in the first place. I stayed for 15 minutes there and went home.
The meeting turned out to be easy-going. Pastor Handoyo prayed for me that God would help me overcome my worry and how wonderful God was. What happened in the meeting was contradicted with the owner's original reason and I didn't even have to apologize to the owner.
After the meeting, I sent a text message to Pastor Handoyo that everything went well. Pastor Handoyo told me that he would keep praying for me. Finally, on August 7, 2008, all the hard work paid off. The company started to paid one month salary, and they promised to pay the rest in the near future. Excitedly, I sent a text massage to Pastor Handoyo about the news.
During this battle process, I experienced God's favor tremendously. It is amazing, that a lot of things are not possible with human, are possible with God. I believe if we want to surrender every area of our lives to God, no matter what difficulty we may be facing, we will overcome and find the answer.
I am still working on the employees' right to get our money, and this very moment I am writing this testimony in Surabaya while gathering the company's assets to bring back to Jakarta. The plan is to sell all the company's assets to raise money to pay the employees.
Thank you Lord for Your Love, I pray that my testimony will encourage the believer and God be glorified through it all.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
